The amount of outside air brought in is called the ventilation rate, and the more it is, the lower the level of pollution inside the room will be, and the closer it will be to the conditions of the outside air. However, just as a drafty room will not warm up no matter how much you heat it, when using heating/cooling or air conditioning, heat loss increases in proportion to the ventilation rate, resulting in extra energy consumption.
