Pilgrimage to Izumi - Ka-me

...It is said that the god of fire in the hearth ascends to heaven on December 24th and returns to the earth at the beginning of the New Year. In addition, although the timing is not fixed, there are events such as "Ka-mei" where people worship at the well to give thanks for the water and pray for good health, "Agari-mawari" where each group makes a pilgrimage to the eastern sacred places in the northern part of Okinawa Island, and "Nakijin-bai" to the northern mountains. "Ukinjuhainju" on the coast of Hyakuna in Tamagusuku Village is the first sacred place on the eastern route, and it is said that Amamikyo (the ancestor god) first cultivated rice with this water.
