… Fishing continued to grow in popularity, reaching its peak from the Bunka/Bunsei era (1804-30) to the Tenpo era (1830-44). The book Kasenroku, written by Tsugaru Unemenosho in 1723 (8th year of the Kyoho era), is a three-volume book detailing fishing spots from the sand lance fishing spots off Shinagawa in Tokyo Bay to the Kanagawa side, as well as information on how to predict the weather, fishing poles, hooks, and sinkers, showing how well fishing had developed. Genrei Rojin's Fisherman's Guide (1770) and Satoasahi no Oka Tsuri Tebikigusa's Light in the Darkness (1788) are also introductory books on the hobby of fishing, and introduce fishing hooks with names of fishing tackle dealers and schools. …

…その後も釣りの人気は上昇を続け，文化･文政(1804‐30)から天保年間(1830‐44)にかけて隆盛をきわめた。津軽采女正（うねめのしよう）が1723年(享保8)に書いた釣魚秘伝《河羨録（かせんろく）》は，東京湾品川沖のキス釣場から神奈川側にいたる詳細な釣場，天候の見方，さお，針，おもりなどについて3巻にまとめたもので，釣りが発達していたことを示している。玄嶺老人《漁人道しるべ》(1770)，里旭の丘釣手引草《闇のあかり》(1788)なども趣味の釣りの入門書で，釣具商の名譜や流派を明記した釣針なども紹介している。…
