Corpus cavernosum - Kaimentai

This is the main tissue of the penis and clitoris. It is surrounded by a collagenous fibrous membrane (tunica albuginea) containing elastic fibers, which penetrates into the interior to form small spongy chambers (cavernous sinuses). Cavernous sinuses are enlarged venous cavities, called cavernous veins, through which venous blood flows. Cavernous sinuses form a meshwork and are interconnected. When the sinuses are filled with venous blood, the tissue swells and hardens, causing the so-called erection phenomenon. This is why it is called erectile tissue. In the penis, there are the corpus cavernosum penileis lined up on the left and right and the corpus spongiosum below it, and the urethra passes through the corpus cavernosum urethra. In women, there is a pair of corpora cavernosa in the clitoris, and the vestibular bulb is cavernous tissue.

陰茎や陰核の主体となる組織。周囲は弾性線維を含んだ膠原(こうげん)線維性膜（白膜）で包まれ、この膜が内部に入り込み、海綿状の細かい部屋（海綿体洞）を形成している。海綿体洞は静脈腔(くう)が拡大したもので、海綿体静脈とよび、静脈血が流れている。海綿体洞は網目状になり、相互に連絡していて、この海綿体洞に静脈血が充満すると組織は膨大化し、硬くなり、いわゆる勃起(ぼっき)現象がおこる。それゆえ、勃起組織という。陰茎では左右に並んだ陰茎海綿体とその下側の尿道海綿体があり、尿道は尿道海綿体の中を通っている。女性では陰核に1対の陰核海綿体があり、前庭球が海綿体組織である。
