A method of redeeming corporate bonds. Corporate bonds are not usually redeemed in full at once after maturity, but rather in installments before maturity. Buy-back cancellation is one such method, in which bonds are purchased from the secondary market and redeemed. Another method of redemption before maturity is lottery redemption, in which a lottery is used. In addition, one method of reducing capital with stocks is to purchase shares from the market and cancel them, which is also called buy-back cancellation or capital reduction. If the market price is lower than the redemption price, buy-back cancellation is more advantageous for the issuing company than redemption by lottery.

社債の償還の方法の一つ。社債の償還は満期になってから一度に全額を支払うという方法はとらず，満期以前に分割して償還をするのが普通である。買入消却はその方法の一つで，流通市場から債券を買入れて償還を行うもの。このほか満期以前の償還の方法としては抽選で行う抽選償還もある。また株式でも減資を行う場合の一つの方法として市場から株式を買入れて消却を行うことがあり，これも買入消却とか買入減資と呼ばれる。市場相場が償還価格よりも低い場合には，発行会社にとって抽選による償還よりも買入消却のほうが有利となる。
