"Omatsuri Sashichi" - Omatsuri Sashichi

...Kabuki kyogen. Sewamono. Five acts. A collaboration between Tsuruya Namboku IV and Sakurada Jisuke II. Commonly known as Honmachi Itoya no Musume (The Daughter of Honmachi Thread Shop) and Omatsuri Sa Shichi. Also known as Taremouwasairo Kikuzuki (The Color of Rumors and the Chrysanthemum Moon) and Honchoshiito no Nejime (The Sound of Honchoshi Threads). First performed at the Ichimuraza Theater in Edo in January 1810 (Bunka 7). The cast included Onoe Matsusuke II (later Kikugoro III) as Omatsuri Sa Shichi, Matsumoto Koshiro V as Hanji Kurobei, Bando Mitsugoro III as Honjo Tsunagoro, Itoya no Imoto no Ofusa and Kurobei no Otoki Jitsu (The Wife of Kurobei and the Wife of Honchoshi) as Iwai Hanshiro V, Sawamura Tanosuke II as the geisha Oito, and the first Onoe Matsuroku as the Wind God Kizaemon.
