Ono Yoshimu

...Yamaha Torakusu (1851-1916) then established Nippon Gakki Seizo Co., Ltd. (now Yamaha Corporation) in 1897, and began manufacturing and selling upright pianos in 1900, the year after he studied in America, and grand pianos in 1902. Other people who contributed in this field include Yamaha Naokichi, Matsumoto Shinkichi, Matsumoto Hiroshi, Fukushima Takuro, Ono Yoshi of Ono Piano, and Ohashi Hatayoshi, who opened an independent workshop after World War II. Kawai Koichi also established the Kawai Musical Instruments Research Institute (now Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) in 1927 and immediately began manufacturing upright and grand pianos, and the company is still the second largest manufacturer after Yamaha today. ...
