...The first play to be adapted into a drama was "Kashiyu Sakuragayatsuchi no Daruma" at the Kyoto Hotei-za Theatre in 1712 (Shotoku 2), which was followed by the Osaka Kado play "Asakusa Miracle Record" (written by Tokuzo Chikamatsu) in May 1797 (Kansei 9), which was reconstructed against the backdrop of the family feud between the Hosokawa and Akita families and became a big hit. It was introduced to Edo in April 1800 at the Ichimura-za Theatre as "Otoko Musubi Chikai no Riyugan" (A Man's Alliance Wish), and the storyline was basically the same as the previous work. Further works include Takagi Oriemon Budou Jitsuroku (The Chronicles of Takagi Oriemon) (by Sakurada Jisuke III) at the Nakamura Theater in August 1848 (Kaei 1), and Tsukimi no Hare (Moon Viewing Landscape - A Scroll of Masterpieces) (by Kawatake Mokuami) at the Ichimura Theater in August 1862 (Bunkyu 2).

…1712年(正徳2)京都布袋屋座《加州桜谷血達磨（かしゆうさくらがやつちのだるま）》が劇化の嚆矢（こうし）で，これをうけて97年(寛政9)5月大坂角（かど）の芝居《浅草霊験記》(近松徳三作)が細川･秋田両家のお家騒動を背景に再構成し，大当りをとった。江戸へ移入されたのは1800年閏4月の市村座《男結盟立願（おとこむすびちかいのりゆうがん）》で，大筋は前作そのままの上演。さらに48年(嘉永1)8月中村座《高木織右武実録（たかぎおりえもんぶどうじつろく）》(3世桜田治助作)，62年(文久2)8月市村座《月見曠（つきみのはれ）名画一軸》(河竹黙阿弥作)などがある。…
