Mount Osorakan

This mountain is located on the border between Akiota Town, Yamagata County, Hiroshima Prefecture and Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture. At 1,346 meters above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is part of the Chugoku Sekiryo Mountain Range, but unusually for the Chugoku Mountains, the summit is not gentle. The area on the northeastern slope at an altitude of 900 to 1,000 meters is gentle, known as Ushigoya Plateau, and has a large ski resort. It is part of the West Chugoku Mountains Quasi-National Park, and the trailhead is at Nikengoya in Akiota Town.

広島県山県(やまがた)郡安芸太田(あきおおた)町と島根県益田(ますだ)市の境にある山。標高1346メートルで広島県内ではもっとも高い。中国脊梁(せきりょう)山脈の一部であるが、中国山地としては珍しく山頂は緩やかでない。北東斜面の標高900～1000メートル一帯は緩やかで、牛小屋高原とよばれ、大規模なスキー場がある。西中国山地国定公園の一部をなし、安芸太田町二軒小屋が登山口である。
