Shuma Ogita

…In January 1674, Matsudaira Mitsunaga's heir, Shimotsuke no Kami Tsunakata, died leaving no children. The chief retainer Oguri Mimasaka recommended Mitsunaga's half-brother Ichimasa's son Mantokumaru (15 years old), and received Mitsunaga's approval. He met with the shogun Tokugawa Ietsuna and appointed him Mikawa no Kami Tsunakuni. Ichimasa's younger brother Nagami Okura and the retainer Ogita Sukuma used this to spread the word that Mimasaka had tried to make his own son Kamon Dairoku Mitsunaga's heir, but with no prospects, had set up the young Mantokumaru and was trying to usurp his power and usurp his master's house. They made a fuss about removing Mimasaka (the opposing side) for the sake of the lord (the opposing side). This became known to the shogunate, and the chief retainer Sakai Tadakiyo ruled that Mimasaka was in the right. …
