...The capsules are oblate and globose, 7-10 mm in diameter, split at the dorsum, and do not form segments. The genus Boninia consists of one genus and two species, and the other species, Boninia spp., can be distinguished from Boninia by its large leaves and twigs that do not turn red even when dry. Boninia is most closely related to the Hawaiian genus Palea , but because it has four stamens (versus eight in the Palea genus), it is distinguished as an endemic genus to the Ogasawara Islands.
