Year of death: June 12, 1589 (July 24, 1589) Year of birth: Tenbun 14.2.11 (1545.3.23) A military commander during the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods. Son of Kamii Kaorukane, the lord of Nagayoshigo, Satsuma (Fukiage-cho, Kagoshima Prefecture). His mother was the daughter of Kimotsuki Kanekata. His first name was Tamekane, Kamigoro, and Kamizaemon. His official title was Ise no Kami. A local lord from Kamii, Aira County, Osumi (Kokubu City, Kagoshima Prefecture), his father moved to Nagayoshigo and served Shimazu Takahisa after coming of age. After his first battle at Osumi Castle, he fought in various battles and achieved military success, and in 1573 he became an envoy for Shimazu Yoshihisa and lived in Kagoshima. He gained Yoshihisa's trust and was promoted to the position of elder councilor in the fourth year of the same year, and was called Ise no Kami Kakkane. In August of the fifth year of the same year, he became the lord of Hyuga Miyazaki Castle and assisted Yoshihisa's youngest brother, Iehisa, while also attending the cardinals of the main family in Kagoshima. He subsequently fought in Higo (Kumamoto Prefecture) and Hizen (Saga Prefecture, Nagasaki Prefecture), and in July of the same year 14, he was wounded in the Battle of Iwaya in Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture) after being hit by an arrow and stone. In October, he entered Bungo (Oita Prefecture) and attacked the Otomo clan, but in March of the following year, he retreated when Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked the west. He then submitted to Hashiba Hidenaga and retired to Ijuin in Satsuma, becoming a monk and taking the name Iccho Sogo. The Kamii Kakuken Diary is a rare record of a warrior at the time, and is an important source of information about the movements in southern Kyushu at the end of the Sengoku period. 没年:天正17.6.12(1589.7.24) 生年:天文14.2.11(1545.3.23) 戦国・安土桃山時代の武将。薩摩永吉郷(鹿児島県吹上町)地頭上井薫兼の子。母は肝付兼固の娘。初名為兼,神五郎,神左衛門と称す。官は伊勢守。大隅姶良郡上井(鹿児島県国分市)の国人で,父の代に永吉郷に移り,元服して島津貴久に仕えた。大隅廻城の初陣以下,諸方に出陣して軍功を重ね,天正1(1573)年島津義久の奏者となり鹿児島に居住。義久の信任を得て同4年には老中職に抜擢され伊勢守覚兼と称す。同8年8月には日向宮崎城主となり義久の末弟家久を補佐する傍ら,本家鹿児島の枢機にも参じた。以後肥後(熊本県),肥前(佐賀県,長崎県)にも出陣し,同14年7月筑前(福岡県)岩屋の戦いには矢石を冒して奮戦負傷,10月には豊後(大分県)に入って大友氏を攻めたが,翌年3月,豊臣秀吉の西下にあい撤退。羽柴秀長に下って薩摩伊集院に出家隠棲,一超宗咄と名乗った。『上井覚兼日記』は当時珍しい武人の記録で,戦国末期の南九州の動静を知る重要資料。 (今谷明) 出典 朝日日本歴史人物事典:(株)朝日新聞出版朝日日本歴史人物事典について 情報 |
