Umiguri Island

An island located in the Tsushima Strait between Kyushu and Korea, about 1 km north of Waniura at the northern tip of Tsushima Island. It is pronounced "Unijima." Its area is about 0.09 square kilometers. It belongs to Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture. During the Meiji period, a radio base of the former army was established on the island, and a radar base of the Air Self-Defense Force is still installed on the island today, so the general public is not usually allowed to enter. 九州と韓国の間の対馬海峡に浮かぶ島、対馬島の北端、鰐浦の北約1キロメートルに位置する島。「うにじま」と読む。面積約0.09平方キロメートル。長崎県対馬市に属する。明治時代に旧陸軍の無線基地が置かれ、現在も航空自衛隊のレーダー基地が設置されているため、通常一般人は立ち入ることができない。
