…In the Kamakura period, the word suki came to be used to distinguish it from iro-gomi, but it was used exclusively to mean the refinement of the art of waka poetry. An early example showing that suki came to apply to the tea ceremony is the collection of waka essays, Shotetsu Monogatari (compiled around 1444-52), in which the word cha-suki is used in contrast to waka-suki. In 1526 (Taiei 6), the renga master Socho visited Soju, the heir of Murata Juko, and wrote, “The tea ceremony in Shimogyo is now called suki, and there are four-and-a-half-tatami rooms, six-tatami rooms, and each performance” (Socho Notebook), and it is known that the word suki had come to mean the tea ceremony by the beginning of the 16th century. … *Some of the terminology that refers to "Uta Sukiya" is listed below.
