...On the river terrace of the Kuma River lies the Kamikuroiwa Rock Shelter Site (history), which dates from the late Paleolithic to early Jomon period. Kaiganyama Iwaya-ji Temple, located in Takeya, Nanadori, in the northern part of the village, is the 45th temple of the 88 Shikoku Pilgrimage Sites, and is said to be the sacred site of the Hokke hermit, where Kukai trained. Located at an altitude of 600m, the towering rock peaks are famous for being depicted in the ancient Ippen Hijiri-e.
