...A disease in which bilateral occlusive lesions are present from the end of the internal carotid artery in the skull to the origin of the anterior and middle cerebral arteries (circle of Willis), and an abnormal vascular network develops at the base of the brain as a compensatory collateral circulation. This name comes from the hazy appearance of the abnormal vascular network in cerebral angiography findings, but it is also called occlusive disease in circle of Willis. There are two theories about the origin of the abnormal vascular network: congenital and acquired, but it is still unknown. ...
