Labor and Farmer Relief Association

Japanese: 労農救援会 - ろうのうきゅうえんかい

An organization whose purpose is to provide relief to workers and farmers who are victims of social movements or natural disasters. The 1927 Noda Soy Sauce Dispute was the direct catalyst for the founding of the Association for Relief of Victims of the Liberation Movement in April 1928 as a non-partisan mass organization (chairman: Abe Isoo). In the wake of the March 15 Incident just before its formation and the April 16 Incident the following year, which saw the suppression of the Japanese Communist Party, the association came to be carried on by left-wing activists, and in August 1930 it changed its name to the Japan Red Rescue Association and joined the International Red Rescue Association (MOPR) (short for Mezhdynarodnaya organizatsiya pomoshchi bortsam revolyutsii).

社会運動の犠牲者や自然災害などをうけた労働者･農民の救援を目的とする組織。1927年の野田醬油争議を直接の契機に，超党派的大衆団体として28年4月，解放運動犠牲者救援会が結成された(会長安部磯雄)。結成直前の三･一五事件，翌年の四･一六事件とつづく日本共産党弾圧事件のなかで同会は左翼系活動家によって担われるようになり，30年8月日本赤色救援会と改称，国際赤色救援会MOPR（モツプル）(Mezhdynarodnaya organizatsiya pomoshchi bortsam revolyutsiiの略)に加盟した。
