Born on May 31, 1889. After serving as a professor at Fourth Senior High School and Third Senior High School, and a lecturer at Kyoto Imperial University, he became a professor at Tokyo Theological University in 1955, and later a professor at Tohoku Gakuin University. As a member of the New Testament Revision Committee, he contributed to the completion of the Colloquial Translation of the Bible. He passed away on June 5, 1982, at the age of 93.
