Shogo Yamaya

Japanese: 山谷省吾 - やまやせいご

1889-1982 A biblical scholar from the Showa era.
Born on May 31, 1889. After serving as a professor at Fourth Senior High School and Third Senior High School, and a lecturer at Kyoto Imperial University, he became a professor at Tokyo Theological University in 1955, and later a professor at Tohoku Gakuin University. As a member of the New Testament Revision Committee, he contributed to the completion of the Colloquial Translation of the Bible. He passed away on June 5, 1982, at the age of 93. He was born in Okayama Prefecture and graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. His works include "Paul's Theology."

明治22年5月31日生まれ。四高,三高の教授,京都帝大講師をへて昭和30年東京神学大教授,のち東北学院大教授。新約聖書改訳委員として口語訳聖書の完成につくした。昭和57年6月5日死去。93歳。岡山県出身。東京帝大卒。著作に「パウロの神学」など。
