Japanese: ポドリスク - ぽどりすく（英語表記）Подольск／Podol'sk

An industrial city in the Moscow Oblast in the western part of the Russian Federation. Population 195,900 (1999). It is located on the banks of the Pakhra River in the southern suburbs of Moscow. It became the administrative center at the end of the 18th century, but the town's development began in 1900 when a factory for the American company Singer Sewing Machines was built there. After the Russian Revolution (1917), heavy industry developed and the population increased. Currently, the main industries are sewing machines, boilers, cables, storage batteries, secondary processing of non-ferrous metals, cement, and firebricks.

ロシア連邦西部、モスクワ州の工業都市。人口19万5900（1999）。モスクワ市の南郊、パフラ川の河岸にある。18世紀末より行政中心地となったが、町の発展は1900年にアメリカ企業「シンガーミシン」の工場が建設されてからである。ロシア革命（1917）後、重工業が発達し、人口が増大した。現在、主要工業はミシン、ボイラー、ケーブル、蓄電池、非鉄金属の二次加工、セメント、耐火れんがである。
