A town in Nakagawa-gun, northern Hokkaido. The Soya Main Line runs through it. The town is bordered by the Kitami Mountains to the east and the Teshio Mountains to the west. The town produces potatoes and sugar beets in the basin along the Teshio River, but rice cultivation is at the northern limit of the area, so field crops are the mainstay.
