An important battle in Indian history that took place three times in Panipat, India. Panipat is located northwest of Delhi and is a strategic location in the Punjab region. In 1526, Babur defeated the Lodi army and established the Mughal Empire. In 1556, Akbar defeated the Sur army and established the foundation of the Mughal Empire. In 1761, the Maratha Confederacy was defeated by the Afghan king and lost its ambition to rule North India.
