Tenjinkimono

Japanese: 天神記物 - てんじんきもの

It is a type of Joruri and Kabuki script. It is based on the historical facts of the feud between Sugawara no Michizane (Suga no Shosho) and Fujiwara no Tokihira, and Michizane's exile to Dazaifu in Kyushu, and includes the Flying Plum Legend, the Raijin Legend, and the Tenmangu Tenjin Engi. These deeds of Michizane are adapted and dramatized for Joruri and Kabuki. In terms of theatrical scripts, it was pioneered by the Noh play "Raiden." In the early modern period, the titles of old Joruri pieces such as "Tenjin Honchi" and "Tenjin Goshuseki" have been passed down, but the dates of performances and the performers are unclear. "Tenjin Gohonchi" is also included in the Kaga no Jo repertoire, but the content is unknown.

浄瑠璃，歌舞伎脚本の一系統。菅原道真(菅丞相)と藤原時平の確執，道真の九州大宰府への流罪という史実にまつわり，飛梅伝説，雷神伝説，また天満天神縁起などがある。これら道真の事蹟を浄瑠璃や歌舞伎にとり入れて脚色したもの。演劇脚本の上では能の《雷電》が先駆作。近世に入り，《天神本地》《天神御出世記》などの古浄瑠璃の曲名が伝えられているが，上演年月や演者など明らかでない。加賀掾の演目の中にも《天神御本地》を伝えるが内容不明。
