Greek philosopher from 400 to 325 BC. A representative figure of the Cynic school, he is known as "Diogenes of the Barrel." As a young man, he engaged in counterfeiting in Sinope on the Black Sea coast, and after his crime was discovered, he fled to Athens. However, he is said to have continued to counterfeit in a spiritual sense, that is, to create values different from those officially recognized. He inherited the teachings of Antisthenes, rejected all materialistic frills, and believed that the natural state, in which one lives with only the bare necessities of life, is the greatest happiness for humans.
