Mr. Oshiro - Mr. Oshiro

Japanese: 小代氏 - しょうだいうじ

A medieval samurai family whose main territory was Oshiro (Katsushiro) Village, Musashi Province (present Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture). According to the family tree, Tohiro, who descended from the Kodama clan, one of the seven Musashi clans, was the ancestor of the Oshiro clan. Tohiro's son, Yukihira, served Minamoto no Yoritomo and was given the position of land steward of Nakakawabo in Echigo Province and Mifunosho in Aki Province in addition to his main territory, laying the foundation for the Oshiro clan, a vassal of the Kamakura vassals. In 1247 (Hōji 1), during the time of Shigetoshi, he was given the position of land steward of Noharasho in Higo Province as a reward for his distinguished service in the Battle of Hōji, but in 1271 (Bun'ei 8) by order of the shogunate, Shigetoshi's sons and others went down to Higo and settled there to defend against Mongol invasions and to suppress villains within the territory.

武蔵国小代(勝代)郷(現，埼玉県東松山市)を本領とする中世の武家。伝えられる系図によれば武蔵七党児玉党の流れをくむ遠弘が小代氏の祖である。遠弘の子行平は源頼朝に仕えて，本領のほか越後国中河保，安芸国見布乃荘等の地頭職を与えられ，鎌倉御家人小代氏の基礎を築いた。1247年(宝治1)重俊のとき，宝治合戦の勲功賞として肥後国野原荘の地頭職を与えられたが，71年(文永8)幕府の指令により，モンゴル来襲に対する防備と領内の悪党鎮圧のため，重俊の子息等は肥後に下ってそのまま土着した。
