A Noh actor and Noh playwright of the late Muromachi period. A Tayu (master) of the Komparu school of shite. A grandson of Konparu Zenchiku, his real name was Hachiro Gen'an. Opposing the Kanze troupe, which was at its height thanks to the favor of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshitane, he gained the support of monks from Nara and expanded his influence into Yamato, before moving into Kyoto and holding the famous Awataguchi fundraising Noh in 1505 (Eisho 2). His works include "Arashiyama," "Touhou Saku," "Ikuta Atsumori," "Hatsuyuki," and "Ikkaku Sennin," which became the basis for the kabuki play "Narukami," and all of them are distinctive Noh plays. His books include "Moutan Shichinsho" and "Hogoura Nosho," and his art-related books include "Zenho Zoutan." These are valuable sources that convey the reality of performance.
