〘noun〙① When the Emperor or members of the Imperial Family write a document or work, or receive words as a gift. Also, the document itself. *Shosoin documents - June 21st, 756, 8th year of Tenpyo Shoho, Todaiji Temple offering book: "The retired Emperor discards the nation's precious treasures and offers them to Todaiji Temple. Written by the Empress Dowager." [Godai Shiki - Reikan Den] ② Specifically refers to waka poems and prose written by the Emperor or members of the Imperial Family. Nowadays, it is limited to the Emperor. Omiuta. Onuta. Gosei. Imperial poems. *Man'yoshu (late 8th century) 4, 485, inscription: "One poem and tanka poem composed by Emperor Okamoto." 〘Noun〙 This refers to poems and prose written by members of the imperial family, especially the emperor. O-miuta (poems). Gyosei. ※Imakagami (1170) 2 "If you memorize these as the emperor's poems, they will be even more interesting to listen to."

ご‐せい【御製】

〘名〙 皇族、特に天皇が詠んだ和歌や詩文をいう。おおみうた。ぎょせい。※今鏡(1170)二「みかどの御歌とおぼえて、いとどおもしろくもきこえ侍ごせいなるべし」
