…During the Tang Dynasty, the Annan Protectorate was established in Jiaozhou (Hanoi), and it controlled Nanzhao in Yunnan and Champa in central Vietnam. From 906 at the end of the Tang Dynasty, local local lords Cuc Tua Du (Qu Chengyu) and Cuc Hao (Qu Hao) were appointed as naval governors to govern northern Vietnam. In 915, Hao's son Cuc Tua My (Qu Chengmei) was sent to Liang in the central plains and appointed as a military governor, but this led to the intervention of the Liu clan of the Southern Han Dynasty, and with the fall of Liang in 923, the Southern Han army entered Jiaozhou, captured Tua My, and appointed General Li Jin as the governor of Jiaozhou. However, he was pursued by Duong Dinh Nghe (Yang Tingyi), a former general of the Cuc clan, in 931, and Vietnam regained its independence. …
