〘Noun〙① ("Ki" means a person's quality, and "en" means a condition) A Buddhist term. The quality to seek out the correct teachings becomes the opportunity to preach them. ※Kanchiin Hon Sanbo-e (984), lower volume "Though it is not possible for the bones to remain, what is hidden remains according to the opportunity." [The Sutra of the Supreme King, vol. 1] ② The causal condition for something to occur or for a certain state to be reached. A trigger. An opportunity. Or it can mean a reason or a history of events. ※Konjaku (around 1120) vol. 15 "The saint was in a deep opportunity and has now come to stay in this house."
