...The mountain is divided into two volcanic groups, Kita-Zao and Minami-Zao, with the upper reaches of the Yokokawa and Sumikawa rivers as the boundary, and Kita-Zao is generally called Mt. Zao. Kita-Zao is a double volcano, with the ridge called Umanose connecting the highest peak Kumanodake (1,841m) and Kattadake (1,758m) to the south, forming the outer rim of the mountain, and Goshikidake (1,674m) to the east of that, which is the central crater cone. Okama, also called Goshiki-numa, is a crater lake filled with water that was the last crater to form on the west side of Goshikidake, and frequent activity has been recorded.
