Kadai languages

Japanese: カダイ諸語 - カダイしょご（英語表記）Kadai languages

A general term for the Li language (about 1 million people) on Hainan Island, the Lati and Laka languages of northern Vietnam, and the Kerao language of Guizhou Province, China. The name was proposed and coined by American PK Benedict. According to his theory, the Thai languages are separated from Chinese and linked to the Indonesian branch of the Austronesian language family, with the Kadai languages serving as an intermediary between the Thai languages and the Indonesian branch.

海南島のリー (黎) 語 (約 100万人) ，ベトナム北部のラティ語，ラカ語，中国貴州省のケラオ語の総称。アメリカの P.K.ベネディクトが提唱し命名したもの。それによれば，タイ諸語を中国語から切り離してオーストロネシア語族のインドネシア語派と結びつけ，そのタイ諸語とインドネシア語派を結ぶ仲介言語としてカダイ諸語が位置するという。
