Obruchev, SV - Obruchev

...There are gold, tin, and other deposits in the mountains, but they have not been developed. The mountain was named in 1926 by geographer Sergei Vladimirovich Obruchev (1891-1965) in honor of the Russian explorer Ivan Dement'evich Cherskii (1845-92). The mountain range of the same name is also found in Chita Oblast, east of Lake Baikal, and stretches southwest from the source of the Nercha River to the vicinity of the city of Chita.
