A mountain located in the western part of Ibaraki Prefecture, north of Mount Tsukuba. It is 709 meters above sea level and forms the border between Sakuragawa City and Ishioka City. The mountain is made of biotite granite, and is home to many red pines, cedars, and beeches. It is home to Kabasan Shrine, the center of Kabasan faith, and is also a training center for ascetic practices such as Zen meditation. The Kabasan Incident of 1884 (Meiji 17) is famous. The granite led to the development of the stonework industry in Sakuragawa City. It is included in Suigo-Tsukuba Quasi-National Park.
