E-mail is like a letter exchanged over a network. It is done by using the email software on your computer, entering the recipient's email address and sending a message. This is called "sending an email" or "emailing," and photos and documents can also be attached to emails. Unlike telephone calls, messages can be sent at any time regardless of the recipient's status, so it became common with the spread of the Internet. ネットワークを利用してやり取りする手紙のようなもの。電子メール。パソコンのメールソフトを使い、相手のメールアドレスを入力して、文章を送る。このことを「メールを送る」「メールする」といい、メールには、写真や書類も添付できる。電話とは違い、相手の状態にかかわらずいつでもメッセージを送れることから、インターネットの普及とともに一般化した。最近では、携帯電話でも電子メールの利用が一般化している。
