Kae‐ro‐wang (English spelling)
?‐475
King of Baekje, Korea. Also read as "Kourou". Reigned 455-475. His given name was Keishi. In Chinese history books, he is called Yokei, and in the Nihon Shoki, he is also called Kasuri no Kimi. In 457, he applied for a royal tribute from the Song Dynasty and was appointed General of the Eastern Empire. In the following year, 458, he also requested the appointment of 11 senior vassals, strengthening his position in the international community and establishing authority over his domestic rule. However, Goguryeo was rapidly expanding southward at that time, and in 472, he requested Wei to send troops to Goguryeo, but his request was rejected. Then, in 475, the royal capital Hanseong (Gwangju) was taken by the army of Goguryeo's King Jangsu, and King Gaero was killed.
