Noritoshi Inokuma

Year of birth: Unknown. Court noble of the early Edo period. No detailed career is known. He was a courtier of Emperor Goyozei and was appointed as a Shosho (minister of the Imperial Guard). On February 12, 1607 (Keicho 12), he was punished by the emperor for an adulterous affair with a court lady and fled. Furthermore, in July of the same year, an adulterous affair with Karasuma Mitsuhiro and others was discovered, and he was considered the ringleader and fled to Kyushu. On August 4, Tokugawa Ieyasu ordered his capture throughout the country. He was captured while hiding in Hyuga Province, escorted to Kyoto in September, and executed at Jozenji Temple in Kyoto on October 17. There were rumors about his good looks on the streets. Ieyasu took the lead in dealing with this adulterous affair with a court lady, known as the "Inokuma Incident," and it became an opportunity to allow the shogunate to interfere in the imperial court thereafter. <References> Hirai Seiji, "On the Exile of Court Nobles in the Edo Period" (Okurayamaronshu No. 29)

江戸前期の公家。詳しい経歴は伝わらない。後陽成天皇の廷臣で近衛少将に任じられた。慶長12(1607)年2月12日,宮女との密通事件で勅勘を受け出奔した。さらに同14年7月烏丸光広らの密通事件が発覚し,首謀者と見なされ,九州へ逃亡。8月4日徳川家康は全国へその捕縛を命じた。日向国に潜伏中捕らえられ,9月京都へ護送され,10月17日京都常禅寺で処刑された。巷間に美男子の噂が高かった。この「猪熊事件」と呼ばれる宮女密通事件の処分は,家康主導で行われ,以後朝廷への幕府の干渉を許す契機となった。<参考文献>平井誠二「江戸時代の公家の流罪について」(『大倉山論集』29号)
