Heteroptera - Ishirui (English spelling)

Japanese: 異翅類 - いしるい（英語表記）Heteroptera

A general term for insects belonging to the Hemiptera, Heteroptera (Hemiptera, Heteroptera). Sometimes treated as an independent order. A group of insects with forewings called hemiptera, which have a thick leathery base and a thin membranous tip, such as stink bugs. They are broadly classified ecologically into terrestrial, aquatic, and intermediate. Terrestrial insects include stink bugs, helmeted stink bugs, long-legged stink bugs, earwigs, and mites, and many of them are pests of agricultural products because they suck juice from plants. Assassin bugs prey on other insects, and bedbugs suck blood from birds, animals, and humans. Aquatic water bugs and water striders prey on aquatic animals, and semi-aquatic water striders live on the water's surface and prey on insects that fall to the surface. (→ Homoptera, Hemiptera)

半翅目異翅亜目 (カメムシ目カメムシ亜目) に属する昆虫の総称。独立した目として扱われることもある。半翅鞘といって，基方は厚い革質，先半分は薄い膜質となる前翅をもつ昆虫群で，カメムシ類に代表される。陸生，水生，その中間的なものと，生態的に大別される。陸生のものにはカメムシ，ヘリカメムシ，ナガカメムシ，グンバイムシ，メクラカメムシの類を含み，植物体から吸汁するので農産物の害虫となるものが多い。またサシガメ類は他の昆虫を捕食し，トコジラミ類は鳥や獣，人などから吸血する。水生のコオイムシ類，タイコウチ類などは水生動物を捕食，半水生のアメンボ類は水面で生活し，水面に落下する昆虫などを捕食している。 (→同翅類 ,　半翅類 )
