...A type of marionette in folk performing arts. Also called marionette lanterns. There are Saeki Lantern Puppets at Saeki Hietano Shrine in Hietano-cho, Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture (night of August 14th), Fukushima Lantern Puppets at Fukushima Yahata Hojoe in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture (September 22nd to 24th), and Nakajuku Lantern Puppets at Nakajuku Suwa Shrine in Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture (irregularly), each with a different style.
