...Following the earlier migration of the Medes and Persians to the Iranian plateau, the Cimmerians crossed the Caucasus, invaded the Kingdom of Urartu (around Lake Van) (722-715 BC), and further threatened the Assyrian Empire. The Cimmerians are referred to in Assyrian documents as Gimirrai, or Gamils. Some of the Cimmerians migrated to Asia Minor, and from the 70s to the 50s of the 7th century BC, they attacked Phrygia and Lydia, and briefly dominated central Anatolia. *Some of the terminology that mentions "Gimirrai" is listed below.
