684‐734 The third Khagan of the Second Turkic Khanate. Reigned 716-734. First son of Irtylish Khan of the Ashina clan, the founder of the revival. His name is known in Chinese historical documents as Mokukiyokuren or Mokuku. After his father's death (691), during the reign of his father's younger brother Kapgan (Mokutsu) Khagan, he made a name for himself by invading Kyrgyzstan on the upper reaches of the Yenisei River and suppressing the Nine Tiele clan, and was in charge of managing the western region. After Mokutsu's death (716), his younger brother Kyol Tegin (Quetekin) killed his family and vassals, and as the Left Wise King, Mokukiyokuren was promoted to the title of Bilge Khagan.
