...It is said that immediately after his birth, Shakyamuni took seven steps in each direction, pointed to the sky with his right hand and to the earth with his left hand, and said, "I am the greatest winner in the world." A bronze sculpture of this figure is called a Newborn Buddha, and most of them are naked from the waist up, covered with a skirt, and stand in a Buddha-baptism basin. There are variants of the Newborn Buddha that point to the sky with their left hand and the earth with their right hand, and there are also wooden Newborn Buddhas....
