A district in the northern part of Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Formerly Usami Village. Long ago it was part of Usami Sho. During the Edo Period it was under direct control of the shogunate, and in the Meiji Period it was part of Nirayama Prefecture and Ashigara Prefecture, and in 1876 (Meiji 9) it became part of Shizuoka Prefecture. In 1897, horse-drawn carriages began to run between Ito, and in 1898 the Zuso Railway (between Mishima and Izu Nagaoka, now the Izu Hakone Railway Sunzu Line) was built, and the number of people crossing Kameishi Pass increased. National Route 135 runs through the area, and JR Ito Line Usami Station is located here. There are also Usami Onsen, Usami Fishing Port, a beach, and the ruins of Usami Castle.
