Costume patterns are the fashions that have undergone the most diverse changes. These include three types: (1) designs that actors invented when they were performing a certain role on stage, (2) designs that were devised as "house patterns" for actors that were not related to any particular role, and (3) designs that were first used on stage and then became "house patterns."
