A Tendai sect temple located in Kitazaike, Kakogawa-cho, Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture. It is called Todasan Shoryoin. It is commonly known as Toda Taishido. It is also known as "Toda no Taishisan" and "Harima no Horyuji." It is said that the temple was founded in the mid-6th century when the Goguryeo monk Ebin lived here to escape the perils of anti-Buddhism. Prince Shotoku, a disciple of Ebin, heard about this and founded the temple, and later ordered Hatano Kawakatsu to build a hall. It is also said that the name Todasan came from the fact that Prince Shotoku met Nichira of Baekje here and prevented him from returning home by raising a sword on him. During the Nara period, it belonged to Horyu-ji Temple, and the 100 towns of Kako County are said to be listed as materials for the Hohkakyo lectures in the Horyu-ji Engi Zaizaicho (Horyu-ji Temple Register) of 761 (Tenpyo Hoji 5). In 835 (Jowa 2), Ennin (Jikaku Daishi) repaired the various halls when he entered China, and the temple became a Tendai sect temple, where Emperor Toba offered his prayers. The Prince Hall was built in the late Heian period, while the main hall was constructed in the Muromachi period, and both are designated as national treasures. Other buildings include the bell tower, goma hall, monk's hall, and jōgyō hall, and are designated as important cultural properties by the nation, along with eight colored silk scrolls depicting Prince Shotoku's life, a bronze standing statue of Shokannon, and a wooden Shaka triad.
