...In general, the more rainy an area, the higher the density of dolines. When a doline gradually develops and expands, connecting with neighboring dolines and forming a larger irregular depression, it is called an uvale. At the bottom of these depressions, impurities in the limestone (such as clay) accumulate as red residual soil called terra rossa.
