1754‐1816 A Romanian historian and linguist from Transylvania. After completing his studies in his hometown, he studied at Uniate schools in Rome and Vienna, during which time he collected a vast amount of historical material on the Romanian people and their language. After returning to Russia, he worked as an educator to promote mother-tongue education, while also devoting himself to writing books that argue for the historical continuity of the Latin people in the region north of the Danube, which were published after his death.
