Crossover

[The Future of Jazz]
In 1969, Miles Davis released the record Bitches Brew (CBS). The complex rhythms flowing from the rhythm section of 11 of the 13 members, the influence of pop music such as rock that had evolved from jazz, and the use of electric instruments make this a pioneering work of the new movement of the 1970s, crossover or fusion. The fact that most of the major leaders of the fusion world in the 1970s were from Miles' band shows that Miles' presence and influence have not yet diminished.
