Hokokuji Temple

Japanese: 保国寺 - ほこくじ

This is a famous Zen Buddhist temple in Ningbo , Zhejiang Province, China. It is located at the foot of Lingshan Mountain in Ningbo's Jiangbei District, 13km from the city. It is the first cultural site in China to be recognized as a national important cultural property, and along the mountainside are the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Great Hero Hall, the Kannon Hall, the Library of Buddhist Sutras, and the monks' quarters. The Great Hero Hall, also known as the "Palace Without Beams," is the most completely preserved wooden building from the Northern Song Dynasty in China's Jiangnan region, and the oldest surviving example.

中国の浙江(せっこう)省の寧波(ニンポー)にある、禅宗の名刹。寧波市江北区の霊山の麓にあり、市内から13km離れている。中国で最初に国家重要文化財として認定された文化遺跡で、山腹に沿って天王殿や大雄宝殿、観音堂、蔵経楼、僧房などが並んでいる。大雄宝殿は「梁無き殿」とも呼ばれ、中国江南地方で最も完全に保存されている北宋時代の木造建築物で、現存するものでは最古のものである。
