〘Noun〙 The name of the classification of rhymes used as a standard for poetry in China after the Ming and Qing dynasties. The classification of 206 rhymes in the traditional "Guangyun" was too detailed, so it gradually came to be used for all purposes. In the 12th year of the Chunyou era of the Song dynasty ( 1252 ), Liu Yuan, a man from Pingshui, Jiangbei (Limphen City, Shanxi Province), summarized it into 107 rhymes. It was later further revised to 106 rhymes in the Yuan dynasty.
