〘Noun〙 (capitão)① The head of the Dutch trading post in Dejima, Nagasaki, during the Edo period. ※Haiku poem, Edo Dori-machi (1678), Spring, "Even the moldy moss has spread to Tsukuba, your spring (Basho)" ② The captain of a European ship that came to Japan during the Edo period. ※Pop song, Wakamidori (1706), 4th, Murata, "That moldy moss teahouse's soubiyaue, oath in the autumn wind?" ③ A type of silk fabric. Originally brought by ①. Currently made in the Yonezawa region of Yamagata Prefecture. Capitan weaving. ※Ukiyo-zoshi, Koshoku Nidai - otoko (1684), 1st, "A cotton inner lining, egg-colored moldy moss on top, sewn with black thread."

〘名〙 (capitão)① 江戸時代、長崎の出島にあったオランダ商館の館長。※俳諧・江戸通り町（1678）春「かびたんもつくばはせけり君が春〈芭蕉〉」② 江戸時代に日本にやってきたヨーロッパの船の船長。※歌謡・若みどり（1706）四・むらた「あのかびたんめ茶屋のそうびやうゑ、誓文あき風か」③ 絹織物の一種。元来は①が持ってきたもの。現在では、山形県米沢地方で作られる。カピタン織。※浮世草子・好色二代男（1684）一「木綿(きわた)の中入、上にかびたんの玉子色なるをひっかへしに、黒糸のぬいもん」
