〘Noun〙 (capitão)① The head of the Dutch trading post in Dejima, Nagasaki, during the Edo period. ※Haiku poem, Edo Dori-machi (1678), Spring, "Even the moldy moss has spread to Tsukuba, your spring (Basho)" ② The captain of a European ship that came to Japan during the Edo period. ※Pop song, Wakamidori (1706), 4th, Murata, "That moldy moss teahouse's soubiyaue, oath in the autumn wind?" ③ A type of silk fabric. Originally brought by ①. Currently made in the Yonezawa region of Yamagata Prefecture. Capitan weaving. ※Ukiyo-zoshi, Koshoku Nidai - otoko (1684), 1st, "A cotton inner lining, egg-colored moldy moss on top, sewn with black thread."
