...By adding a strong side dish (a bowl), the dish gradually becomes more interesting. A mukozuke (ceramic dish) and two of the three bowls (a stew bowl, a rice bowl, and a soup bowl) are placed on a kaisekizen (a table without legs) and brought out. Other kaiseki utensils include a rice bowl, soup bowl, hassun (a small serving dish), a yutou (a hot water bucket), and a bowl for pickles....
